The Importance of Practicing Conversation
Conversations are the way we express our ideas and share our thoughts. We do this by hearing and speaking with someone we want to talk to. Brazilians who want to know any foreign language, especially English, are usually shy about it. English is used worldwide and it represents a chance to have a better life for many Brazilians. We pay for expensive English classes to try to reach the goal of speaking English fluently. Many of us quit when we find out that pronunciation is really different, and it takes a lot of time to get used to thinking in English without getting frustrated about the language.
The School of the Bible has partnered with Let’s Start Talking (LST) to provide online English classes with native English speakers. LST is an international program that has connected people around the world through English conversation practice since 1980.
LST’s approach offers people a genuine and friendly conversational experience, utilizing a one-on-one dynamic that allows the “Reader” to build on the English skills they already have. They believe that a friendly relationship and the exchange of personal insights is key to developing stronger language skills.
LST volunteer English teachers promote a friendly, judgment-free environment, giving the student the opportunity to create confidence. The key to promoting language competence is encouraging students to engage in conversations. Students naturally learn some new vocabulary when they’re in a conversation, understating new words by context.
We want to invite you to live a unique experience of learning English.
